One of the things I wanted to make sure of from the very beginning of development was proper Linux support - and I'm happy to say that Endless Corridors will fully support Linux from day one of release.
Why Linux?
The Linux gaming community has grown significantly, and over the past couple of years we've seen a real wave of people making the switch from Windows. Whether it's privacy concerns, frustrations with Windows updates, or simply people exploring alternatives, there's a clear and growing audience of Linux gamers - and I wanted to make sure they weren't left out
As an indie developer, I want as many people as possible to be able to play Endless Corridors, and not supporting Linux would mean cutting off a portion of the audience that's only getting bigger.
What I've tested during development
Throughout development I've been regularly testing the game on both Ubuntu and Fedora. These are two of the most widely used Linux distributions, and the game has been running well on both throughout the development process.
That said, Linux is a diverse ecosystem. There are dozens of distributions out there, each with different configurations, drivers, and desktop environments. It would be impossible for me to test every combination before release. Other distributions will very likely work without any issues, but if you run into something specific to your setup, please do let me know - I'll address any distribution-specific issues that come up after launch as the community tests it on configurations I haven't been able to.
Steam Deck
The Steam Deck will be fully supported from day one. Since Endless Corridors is releasing on Steam and the Steam Deck runs on SteamOS (which is Linux-based), this was a natural fit. I've been keeping Steam Deck compatibility in mind throughout development.
One thing worth noting: full controller support may not be completely finished by the time the game launches. I'll be writing a dedicated blog post about controller support separately, as it deserves its own proper write-up. The game will be playable on Steam Deck at launch, but if you're planning to play primarily through controller, keep an eye out for that follow-up post.
Other Linux handhelds
There are a growing number of Linux-capable handheld gaming devices out there beyond the Steam Deck. Devices running Linux or SteamOS-based systems will most likely work with Endless Corridors, as the same underlying support applies. As with other distributions though, controller support across these devices may not be fully polished at launch - that's something I'll be continuing to work on and improve after release.
A note on reporting issues
If you're playing on Linux and run into any problems - whether that's a rendering issue, an input problem, or something specific to your distribution or hardware configuration - please don't hesitate to reach out or leave a report. Linux support is something I care about and want to get right, and feedback from the community is the best way to make that happen.
Thanks for the support, and I'll see you in the corridors.
